Last week, eight of our students had the opportunity to attend a "Women in STEM" event at Lancaster University. This engaging event offered a unique glimpse into university life and the diverse pathways available in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Throughout the day, the students explored advanced mathematical concepts through a series of investigations designed to challenge their knowledge and stretch their understanding beyond the A-level curriculum. These investigations were connected to various STEM fields, such as Physics, Computer Science, and Biochemistry, providing a comprehensive learning experience.

The event included a speed networking session, allowing the students to interact with university undergraduates, master's, and PhD students. They gained valuable insights into what it's like to pursue higher education in STEM as women. The day also featured an introduction to university aptitude tests, giving the students a taste of what to expect as they prepare for the next steps in their academic journeys.

Working in small groups with students from other schools and colleges, our students enjoyed the collaborative environment, which helped them enhance their teamwork and communication skills.

Victoria Dumbuya, one of the attending students, shared her experience: "Yesterday at Lancaster University was a good and enjoyable experience. It was great to hear about other ex-students or PhD students' experiences in learning STEM subjects. I think it was a good experience as a whole."
