Sociology Students Experience History and Culture on Berlin Trip

News - 14 July 2025

The sociology department recently took 20 students on an educational trip to Berlin. During their visit, they explored significant sites including the Jewish Museum, Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate, and the Tiergarten, as well as enjoying some time shopping at the Mall of Berlin.

Students deepened their understanding of East and West Berlin by visiting locations linked to protests, palaces, and police headquarters.

The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Hohenschönhausen prison museum and a discussion with the UK Deputy Ambassador at the Berlin embassy—both offering valuable sociological insights.

With sunny weather throughout and temperatures reaching 34 degrees, students fully engaged with the experience and made the most of this unique learning opportunity.
