RSFC students recently took their passion for science to the next level, stepping into the world of high-level research at Lancaster University. As part of a prestigious Widening Participation Project, delivered in partnership with cutting-edge polymers company Vitrex and the Royal Society of Chemistry, our students were given a rare chance to become real-life researchers for the day.

Equipped with university-standard lab tools and techniques, they carried out complex chemical investigations and brought their findings to life through professionally designed research posters.

A special shout-out to Joseph and Harry, who wowed Lancaster’s academic elite, including PhD researchers and the Head of Chemistry, with their confident and articulate research presentation.

To cap off an already incredible experience, students explored mind-blowing chemical reactions like molecular isomerism and nucleophilic substitution using the department’s immersive VR technology. It wasn’t just science, it was science in 3D!
