Oxford application process

I applied to Oxford because I wanted the opportunity to study at a world-class university.

I felt I should apply because there was nothing to lose in trying! It was also worth it because the experience developed my analytical skills so even if my application failed, the skills I learned will still help me now and in approaching my work in the future.

Summer 2020 and the UCAS application process began, by January 2021 I had my offer. I found the RSFC Oxbridge Masterclasses very helpful. College helped me gain an understanding of how to answer the test questions and the advice I was given was key. College arranged a mock interview which helped prepare me, most importantly helping me collect myself and try and think and vocalise exactly what I am thinking.

I think every stage can be considered rewarding as the process develops the skills relating to your subject. Passing the entrance exam is an achievement in itself and getting an interview is something to be proud of! The biggest challenge for me was finding the time for it. Managing each stage and keeping on top of everything at each stage helped me and ensured that the process was manageable. Even if one part of the application feels a bit hectic, it is worth remembering that it is only for a short time and may lead to an amazing opportunity.

I would recommend applying to Oxbridge even if you have doubts in yourself. You have nothing to lose and if you dedicate some time to it then it will be a worthwhile experience in itself
