Sociology of the Year winners 2025

News - 18 November 2025

In Sociology, 12 of our year 12 students submitted a piece of work to enter the Young Sociologist of the Year competition for the British Sociological Association.  The students either wrote a 2000-word essay or recorded an audio-visual segment to explain the biggest social challenges facing their generation today.

The entries received were fantastic with the students producing university level standard pieces of work from all different angles which really portrayed the biggest social challenges of this generation. The Sociology department chose two internal winners based on the submissions, who were presented with a certificate and reward on Friday in a celebratory lunch. Well done to Kayla Burn and Muskan Khan. Their entries were amazing showing excellent sociological knowledge and ideas that went way beyond A level standard.
