Alumni Talk: Azeem Amir Inspires Students
Rochdale Sixth Form College alumnus Azeem Amir visited the college on 15 December to deliver an inspiring talk to Year 12 students, sharing his passion for disability awareness and his life experiences through his business, Learn with ESS.
Azeem spoke openly about living with visual impairments and the challenges he has faced, while emphasising that disability is not a limitation but an opportunity to grow, make a positive impact, and challenge perceptions. Now a player for the England men’s blind football team with 43 international caps, and training at St George’s Park, Azeem shared how sport has played a vital role in shaping his confidence and success.
Through Learn with ESS, Azeem works with organisations across the UK and internationally, from Carrs Pasties to Hilton Hotels, delivering disability awareness training and promoting inclusivity. He is also now working nationally with Specsavers to further this mission.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions about his business journey, daily life, and emotional resilience. The talk successfully linked disability awareness, sport in society, and entrepreneurship, making it a valuable and engaging experience for all Year 12 students.
Thank you to Azeem for such an inspiring session.
