Our A level French students recently visited Brussels for a cultural enrichment trip, providing an excellent opportunity to apply their language skills in a real-world context.

Led by a French-speaking tour guide, students explored key landmarks including the Grand-Place, Palais de Justice, Palais Royal, St Michael’s Cathedral and the Manneken Pis statue, while also observing the city’s distinctive architecture.

The visit included a range of educational experiences, with trips to the Comics Art Museum, Atomium and the Parlementarium, where students developed their understanding of the European Union. Visits to Mini-Europe and the Planetarium further broadened their knowledge.

Students also visited a chocolate factory to learn about the production process and take part in making pralines, as well as spending time in the city centre sampling traditional Belgian waffles.

The trip supported students in developing their cultural awareness and confidence in using French alongside their A level studies.
