Rochdale Sixth Form College Celebrates Exceptional A level and BTEC Results
As the Number One Sixth Form College in the country, Rochdale Sixth Form College, is again celebrating another year of exceptional results. This year the college has again achieved an impressive pass rate of 99.3% with 57% of A level grades at A*- B and 82% A*- C. Of those students studying for a BTEC qualification 99% achieved Distinction* or Distinction.
An impressive 76% of students progressing to higher education secured a place at their first-choice university, while 37% will continue their studies at a Sutton 30 university; a group of highly selective UK institutions known for their strong academic reputation and graduate outcomes.
These outstanding results further strengthen the College’s long-standing record of excellence. Since opening in 2010, Rochdale Sixth Form College has established itself as one of the country’s leading post-16 providers, consistently achieving an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating. Ofsted recognised the College for a “highly purposeful and productive learning environment that enables students to flourish both academically and personally.”

Included in this year’s successes is former Holy Family student Lily Clyde, who achieved an outstanding A* in Biology, A* in Mathematics, A in Chemistry and A* in her EPQ. Lily will now progress to The University of Manchester, where she will study Chemical Engineering.
Lily commented, ‘Throughout my time at Rochdale Sixth Form College, my teachers have been incredibly encouraging and supportive. Whether helping me tackle challenging topics, guiding me with my next steps or supporting me through the exam period, they’ve always been there when I needed them. I’m so excited to study Chemical Engineering at The University of Manchester and can’t wait to see what the future brings.’
Students have also achieved success in securing high-quality apprenticeships and employment opportunities across a range of sectors, including Public Services, Engineering, Finance, Law, and Construction.
Following a competitive selection process, Abid Hussain has secured a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship with the Civil Service in Project Management. This exciting opportunity will enable Abid to combine academic study with valuable professional experience, developing the knowledge, skills and expertise needed to build a successful career within the Civil Service. Abid said ‘I’m incredibly grateful for all the support and encouragement I’ve received from my teachers throughout my time at Rochdale Sixth Form College. Their guidance has helped me take the next step towards my chosen career, and I’m really excited to start my role with the Civil Service.’
