Progression Post A Level Study

We discuss future progression plans with prospective students during their year 11 interviews and at enrolment following GCSE results.

As a student at RSFC, you will be exposed to a range of progression-related activities during your two-year study to help you make an informed choice about your future plans. We invite employers, universities, and apprenticeship providers into College to share key information about their courses and industries.

Students studying in college

Don’t worry if you are unsure of your next steps following A level study, specialising in A levels or experiencing new interests through enrichment and other extra-curricular activities that your future pathway becomes clear. Your SPDL and subject teachers will support you with your plans, providing information on next steps.

Year 12 Psychology students visited Chester Zoo to carry out their own observational study on an animal of their choice. They also took part in a primate behaviour workshop, comparing chimpanzee attachment behaviours with human attachment theories studied in class.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, our Duke of Edinburgh students dedicated an incredible 2,392 hours to volunteering in their local communities. Their commitment, kindness and willingness to make a difference is something to be truly proud of. Well done, everyone!

MFL students visited the University of Manchester for the “Discover Languages” event, exploring degree pathways and careers. They heard from alumni, attended lectures on French and Hispanic cinema, gaining insight into uni study and future opportunities.

Business, ICT and Health & Social Care students visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach for an engaging insight into how the park operates. They learned about its history, ride development, and the role of business, tech, and customer experience, before exploring the park.

Our Duke of Edinburgh Award students recently completed their qualifying expeditions in the stunning Howgill Fells and Yorkshire Dales. They demonstrated resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the challenge. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Students came together to raise funds for Springhill Hospice, turning a £30 team budget into creative fundraising events. From bake and doughnut sales to a tombola and raffle, they raised over £500! A fantastic display of teamwork, initiative and community spirit.

Applied Psychology students visited Edge Hill University, exploring the Psychology Department and taking part in a guided campus tour to experience university life first-hand. They also attended a lecture on degree pathways and careers in psychology.

We recently hosted our Year 6 Science & Creative Arts Day, where pupils explored combustion reactions and Skittles chromatography, alongside creative workshops in graphic design. A brilliant day of hands-on learning, discovery and creativity!
